Imagine, from a child’s perspective, a trip to the pediatrician’s office that didn’t conjure up emotions of fear and anxiety— but instead evoked pleasant memories where friendly, and familiar, faces seem to magically transform a “cold and clinical” situation into a “warm and welcoming” visit with friends. Parents who’ve seen dread in their children’s eyes know how the mention of a doctor visit can turn bright young eyes into tearful ones. Friendly Medical Group is dedicated to changing that reality with a fresh approach that treats young patients with hugs and laughs, as much as pokes and prods.
The Friendly Medical Group’s spacious pediatric facility is centrally located in Stony Brook, Long Island in close proximity to Stonybrook Medical Center. The Group’s core physicians are Doctors Alicia Doughty, and Yekaterina Ryzova. These dedicated, and enthusiastic, pediatricians are supported by a caring and talented team of medical practitioners, caregivers, and administrative staff. They immediately connect with their young patients… and their families… in a way that makes a visit to the doctor’s office feel like a special occasion.
Drs. Alicia and Katia took over the practice from Dr. Rubin and Dr. Bennitt after their retirement. “We do share similar values in medicine and felt instant connection. We are mothers and pediatricians, so plenty of personal experience we could share with parents. We love what we do, we enjoy coming to work every day, and we are lucky to have support of our wonderful staff and families.”
Doctors Doughty and Ryzova have a knack for putting their patients at ease— whether it’s a toddler facing the reality of an immunization shot, or a young teenager dealing with a maturing body and changing health needs. There’s never a lack of an understanding bedside manner from these compassionate caregivers… or their well-trained staff. In addition to providing wellness care, and treatment for traditional childhood illness and injury, The Group also offers general visitations in several specific pediatric, and adolescent disorders, as well as many on-site conveniences such as an on-site lab, and key diagnostic testing for vision problems, hearing impairment, and behavioral issues.
Much of the Group’s appeal begins with an inviting atmosphere that is both fun and friendly. Brightly colored walls, and playful animal art, highlight hallways and exam rooms with wonderfully themed environments. There are always plenty of activities for the kids, and incentive programs like art shows, prize contests, honor-roll recognition, and educational get-togethers highlighting health tips, keep the whole family engaged, and proactive about their physical checkups.
The doctors maintain a full schedule of patients with office hours six days per week, and on-call service access 24/7. They are affiliated with both Stony Brook Medicine, and St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Smithtown. For centrally located Long Island families, there isn’t a more skilled or compassionate resource for pediatric care.
